Barcode Restaurant - Restaurant, Bar, Lounge Review - Washington, DC

Barcode Restaurant - Restaurant, Bar, Lounge Review - Washington, DC

Barcode Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge
1101 17th Street Northwest Washington, DC 20036
(202) 955 9001

Providing lunch, happy hour (with amazing specials ranging from $4-7 priced drinks), dinner, and late night festivities, Barcode is the place that constantly provides satisfaction to the palates of dining guests and night crawlers looking for a great night out on the town.

Located just a block from Farragut West metro station, Barcode provides something exciting and different every day of the week:

- Mondays: Happy Hour, Dinner
Tuesdays: Happy Hour, Dinner, ½ off Wine all night long!
Wednesdays: Happy Hour, Dinner, and Latin Wednesdays with DJ Mario
Thursdays: International Thursdays presented by Masoud A. featuring Hookah, DJ, and live drums!
Fridays: Happy Hour, Dinner, followed by the one and only Panorama Productions resident DJ Saam (Chroma)! Top 40 pop/house mashups until 3 AM.
Saturday: Dinner 6PM - midnight, music by DJ Kam
Sunday: NFL Sundays (Sunday Ticket in DC) which includes Free Wi-Fi, $1 Bud Lights, $2 Guinness, and ½ off pizza until midnight!

Brazilian Ipe furnishings white marble walls, and immense sliding glass door panels bring a sense of modernity whenever you take a look around this fine establishment.

Lounges are fully stocked with projectors and couches, as well as a 45 ft bar and massive booths. Its dining area that is normally packed during the day/evening is skillfully converted into a raging dance floor at night.

Barcode appears to rarely, if never, disappoint. A personal favorite is Friday nights with DJ Saam, as the place is crawling with a mix of college students and young professionals, letting their hair down after a stressful week and “raising the roof” to DJ Saam’s eclectic and always enjoyable spins.

Another bonus for Fridays: if you get there early enough before the conversion from restaurant to night club, you can enjoy a gut-busting Pesto Pizza or a grilled Atlantic Salmon Fillet, and replace those calories with shots of Kamikaze and fattening sex-like music for your eardrums.

All in all, I’m very impressed with Barcode, and it’s apparent that most of the DC metropolitan area agrees.

Science Club - Washington, DC

Science Club - Lounge & Bar Review - Washington, DC

Science Club

1136 19th Street Northwest, Washington D.C., DC 20036-3602

Awesome lounge located in DC. You will find great drinks, alternative people, some hipsters and a good blend of Trip-Hop, Electronica, Dub Step, and House Music downstairs.

The name is no gimmick. Before they learned how to dress, ice-cube-sucking patrons all used to be card-carrying members of high school science clubs across America.  Grand staircase hints at Mayfair but leads to Soho's white-painted brick and mini-booths. Periodic table of classy wine, elemental beers.

Middle-eastern light bites small enough to be cooked on a Bunsen burner. DJ gets grown up nerds jamming like it was their bar mitzvah. Congratulations son, you're cool now.

ADC @ Donovan House Rooftop Party - Washington, DC

ADC @ Donovan House - Rooftop Party - Washington, DC
March 2012 - Posted by The PARTIES Authority

ADC - Donovan House Rooftop
1155 14TH Street
Washington, DC 20005

Situated discreetly on the rooftop of Donovan House, ADC provides visitors and Washington, D.C., members with a resort-like retreat, perched high above the bustling city streets of our nation’s capitol. ADC’s bar menu features fare from the hotel’s signature restaurant ZENTAN, specialty cocktails, and an extensive wine list, making it ideal for an early cocktail or a late-night rendezvous in a beautiful setting. A selection of the Zentan menu is also available at ADC. During the daytime the pool is reserved for guests, with the pool bar open to guests and locals in the evening hours.

The rooftop of the Donovan House is a magical wonderland in the summer — or is that the heatstroke? Remember, folks, drink water! Whether the giant wise caterpillars were dehydratio hallucinations or not, it’s true that ADC (an initialism for Above DC), the Donovan House’s rooftop bar, has the two most important summer staples: a pool, and frozen cocktails.

The icy concoctions ($10) will come in various flavors that will change over the summer at the bartender’s whim. There’s also a summer-only menu of casual Asian dishes — sweet and spicy chicken wings, sushi rolls and summer rolls ($11-$14) and sangria and punch on offer as well for a more casual summer affect. Remember: you’re by a pool, on a roof. No running and not too much tequila. And no swimming for an hour after you eat.

ADC is open through Labor Day, Monday through Saturday 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sundays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Make sure to get in touch with them (via Facebook or on Twitter @Donovan_House) before you head over there — they do a lot of private events and it’s awkward to walk over there with your towel and get rebuffed.

The Livin’ Is Easy: Summer brings with it a multitude of seasonal happy hours. Two new ones in midcity are DC Noodles (1412 U St. NW) and Rice (1608 14th St. NW) which both offer $4 wine every day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. — DC Noodles has $4 sake as well.

Great place but hard to get in if you are NOT a door breaker!
